More about Gothenburg
Planning your visit to Gothenburg? As a world-leading medical solutions company with our roots in Gothenburg, we’re excited to welcome you, recommend some places to visit, and get to know you better while you’re here.
Gothenburg is a city of canals, culture and cuisine. Ever since Mölnlycke was founded in 1849, Gothenburg and its people have been the inspiration behind our pioneering solutions. Here are our 10 favourite recommendations for visitors:
Gothenburg’s indoor fish market and temple to seafood opened in 1874. We call it the “Feskekôrka” or “Fish Church” because of the building’s resemblance to a Neo-Gothic church. The Fish Church
Gothenburg’s signature trams are no tourist attraction, but in daily use by Gothenburg’s residents – and Mölnlycke staff. You can buy a one- or three-day pass that covers the whole network.
If you’re interested in Nordic Art, the Konstmuseum is a short walk from EWMA’s conference centre. As well as masterpieces by Munch, Edlefelt and Larsson, you’ll find works by Picasso and Chagall.
The largest theme park in the Nordics is not just for children. Located directly opposite the EWMA conference centre, Liseberg offers both live events and rides on a wealth of attractions.
The charming neighbourhood of Haga is where you’ll find some of the best coffee and pastries in Sweden for your swedish 'fika'. Look out for cinnamon buns the size of dinner plates – make sure to share with your colleagues!
A guided boat tour around Gothenburg’s archipelago will transport you away from the hustle and bustle of the city to the rural villages on our islands.
The public science centre and natural history museum is a hop, skip and a jump from the EWMA conference centre. Who would have thought you’d find a rainforest in Gothenburg?!
Scandinavian cuisine is undergoing a resurgence and the west coast of Sweden is no exception. Gothenburg’s coastal location makes it a paradise for fish and seafood lovers. Sumptuous seafood
Hisingen is Sweden’s fifth largest island and it’s home to Volvo cars. If you’ve a free day, enjoy the island’s secret swimming spots, cool cafés as well as the motoring museum.
A little inside knowledge is always useful. You can get discounts on many of these attractions with the Gothenburg pass.
